Reefton Outline | DAY ONE

At our recent workshop during the annual NZMCA AGM in Reefton this February, we dived into everything solar for your motorhome, touching base on safety, the lowdown on batteries, and how to get your system just right for your needs. We also tried out a new microphone that worked wonders, although it didn’t catch your questions. Wayne’ll make sure to repeat those aloud next time for everyone’s benefit.
We talked about the current regulations and made it clear that New Zealand’s sticking with the 2018 version of ASNZS 3001 for good reasons. So, if you’ve heard rumours about impending changes, rest easy, we’re on steady ground for now.

The shift towards lithium batteries was a big topic. They’ve come a long way in affordability and safety, making them a smart choice for many. Know that we would not push you towards lithium if it doesn’t match your motorhoming lifestyle or future plans. It’s all about what suits you best.

For those thinking about solar panels, remember to keep them clean for optimum performance. It’s simple, a bit of soapy water does the trick. Wayne also demystified some of the technical aspects of installation and choosing the right panels.

In all of this, our main aim is to keep things straightforward and provide useful insights without diving too deep into technical jargon. Solar for your motorhome shouldn’t feel like rocket science. And while we’re all for sharing what we know at Motorhome Solar, this wasn’t about pitching sales to you. It’s about sharing knowledge, answering your queries, and hopefully making your solar journey a bit smoother.

If you’re curious to learn more, thinking about tweaking your setup, or just starting out on your solar adventure, we’re here to help. Drop by our website to sign up for our newsletter for regular downloads of solar wisdom, or better yet, come see us in person. We’re always up for a chat about how you can make the most of your motorhome’s solar potential, tailored just for you.

Thanks to everyone who joined in, asked questions, and shared their experiences. It’s your curiosity and enthusiasm that make these workshops so rewarding. See you out there on the road, or at our next get-together. Safe travels!
